Bride Goes Bananas

A touch of quirky adds personality to Punky & Mark's wedding. Although this couple is mad for monkeys and bananas, they complemented the quirky details with a classic gown and suit. The bride asked me to make a simple birdcage veil as the bride requested as she didn't want it to overpower her beaded dress. Here's the close up shot from my previous blog. Little Owl's 1st Birthday

I LOVE OWLS! I've done owl projects from patchwork to plushies, fascinators, sequins and now masks. So you can imagine how excited I was when I heard that my cousin will be throwing an owl-themed party for her little Olivia. I just had a hoot working on this one!

I love the theme. I felt sad knowing the fate of the poor little owl pinata though.

We did a vintage movie inspired shoot from different decades...we did atonement, grease, chicago, hairspray...and I wore one of your headbands during the hairspray shoot. I've been looking forward to sharing this latest fashion shoot! These fantastic photos were taken by photographer Romain Rivierre. His lovely wife, artist Tanya Escaler doubled as model and Creative Director for the shoot. Mica Tuano did the Black Swan-inspired make-up and doubled as a model (of course) My lovely sister, Gail Miller posed as Mila Kunis and feathered head candy, styling and modeling by Bonne as well :)

We had to do a lot of ballet moves, twirling and bending to get some of the shots right. And Romain, I have to say, these are fabulous!

Thank you team fashown! These turned out lovely and well within our "Black Swan" vision:)

Hoppy Birthday Tala

My niece's (Tala) birthday fell on Easter Sunday. We had planned a beach trip so my sister and I decided to throw Tala an easter egg hunt party. Of course my niece had to be a bunny. I prepared 5 bunny ears, supposedly for the girls in the family. Luckily 2 other families were staying at the same resort, so we invited their kids to the party as Tala's guest bunnies. There were four kids and I made 4 bunny ears--it was perfect! :)

Tonight, my friend Kitty gave my vintage mannequin a much-needed makeover. I've had some people tell me that my mannequin looked scary, with the faded makeup and ashen gray skin tone.

When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a ballerina or an ice skater. Maybe it had something to do with the fluidity of their movements, their grace and unbelievable flexibility--or maybe it was their outfits.

I took ballet lessons when I was a kid, but I got restless and moved on to other summer classes like tap dancing and, yes, hula dancing. I never really pursued any of them after only a few sessions, much to my grandmother's frustration. But still, seeing the trailer of Black Swan got me all excited. I can't wait to see it! I don't know if it's out yet here.

Maybe I'll wear one of these to the movie... I have yet to decide if I should wear black or white. Oh, and maybe throw in a tutu skirt to complete the outfit :)

This piece was inspired by the lovely French actress, Brigitte Bardot. Although she was hailed as a sex kitten of her time, I think her bubbly spirit also comes out in many of her photos. A cute headpiece of yellow silk organza and chiffon fabric, all sewn by hand to form this form this lovely whimsical elastic headband.

countdown to i♥2011

I began this year with an i ♥ 2010 post and you know what, it has been a fantastic year and there's still more fantastic news all around.

1.The year's about to end and orders for next year's weddings have already begun.

2. I've been working on a whole new set of pieces to bring you all a little sparkle this Christmas.

3.Planning another fab shoot with my fave Makeup Diva, Mica Tuano and team fashown.

4. Working on a fab collab with artist, Lala Gallardo.

5. I have found another fabulous new home for Bonne.

I am so excited to tell all of you that Bonne will soon be available at the very posh AC+632 over at Greenbelt 5.

I have always loved that store and Firma in Greenbelt 3, and I am so happy that Bonne will be part of their lovely roster of merchants. Selected Bonne pieces will be sold exclusively at AC+632. So please do pop by soon darlings. I will let you all know once the pieces are readily available.

You can still find other Bonne items at my online shop and at Whipped shop.

I am so happy and thankful for the support from my lovely lady loves, the Whipped ladies, team fashown, and of course all the Bonne girls. This has been a fabulous 2010 and I just can't wait for 2011. :)
